Letter to Parents and Guardians
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Hello from the Chemistry dept. Your child is enrolled in Chemistry class this semester at Phillip O Berry. We are looking forward to an exciting year and getting to know your child. It is our goal to provide all students with an educationally challenging, yet fun, experience.
Chemistry is a very demanding course. We will cover 25 topics in 18 weeks. Weekly homework and studying are a necessity.
Classroom required materials vary based on teacher, please reference your child’s syllabus to identify these materials. These materials should be brought to class every day.
Your child has brought home their course syllabus and you have both should read and sign the syllabus contract; it will stay in the front of their notebook at all times. I have written this contract to ensure that both the students and their parents understand how this course will run. The syllabus can also be found on the chemistry weebly website. If you have any questions regarding the syllabus or the course, please contact your child’s teacher.
We have extremely high expectations of all students, and for that we will not apologize. We ask for your help to maintain these expectations by checking with your child periodically to make sure that his/her work is being done. We also ask for open communication with you about your child. Our teamwork is what will make your child successful.
Chemistry after school tutoring is available on Tuesday after school and by appointment. Appointments for tutoring must be made at least 3 days prior to a test. Please fill out the parent survey you can find on the weebly site – pobchemteam.weebly.com . Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher via the contact information listed on the syllabus and the weebly site.
Thank you,
The Chemistry Team @ POB
